Our Process
Who We Are, Where We’ve Been, and Where We’re Headed:
Our story begins in 1994. Michael was two years old, with not yet a thought of home improvement in his burgeoning little mind. Josiah, you might say, was still under development, yet to be born. We must begin our story here because this was the year Coghlan Painting, started by Michael’s father, Pat, evolved from a small window-cleaning operation into an equally small painting company. More people in Pat’s circle seemed to be interested in hiring a house painter than a window cleaner, and the business followed the demand. From that point forward, through the late 2010s, this would become the theme of what eventually grew into Coghlan Enterprises.

Contact Us
After contacting us with your name, callback number and scope of work, we’ll do our best to reach out to you within two business days to learn more about you and your project and set up a time for an initial consultation.
02 — Initial Consultation
At the consultation, we’ll be able to set eyes on the site of your envisaged remodel and discuss particulars. Once we bid adieu, we’ll get straight to presenting you with an estimated cost to see if we’re within your budget; if you decide that we are and wish to move forward, we’ll all do a little shimmy and then we’ll follow up the estimate with a proper bid, which will take us about a week, sometimes two depending on the complexity of your project, to generate.
For some projects, we can skip the ballpark figure and jump straight to presenting you with an actual bid. The duration of the bid is contingent on the complexity of the project, depth of work provided by our subcontractors, and permitting (if the job requires a permit). With kitchen remodels, we’ll include, for a slight fee, a digital 3-D architectural rendering of your project.

03 — Proposal Accepted
If you accept our proposal, we’ll get to work on design details and help with material choices or pair you with one of the designers with whom we work in tandem. Moreover, we’ll discuss scheduling and collect a deposit.

04 — Pre-Construction
Prior to beginning your project, all client-responsible materials should be on site or in transit. Any materials that require special orders on our part should also be on site or in transit.
In addition to obtaining the materials, we’ll ensure the subcontractors are scheduled and, if necessary, the permit is secured (such are the GC responsibilities). Once we commence, you will be our foremost focus.

05 — Demolition & Rough-Ins
The first week primarily entails demolition, followed immediately by the rough-ins of the subcontractors.

06
— Construction
After the subs have completed the first round of their work, we’ll begin construction, which will include framing, sheetrocking and, in the case of bathroom remodels, waterproofing.
Once construction is completed, we can start the installation phase.

07 — Installation
During the installation phase, we install any tile or flooring, cabinets and countertops and so on.

The first week primarily entails demolition, followed immediately by the rough-ins of the subcontractors.

08
— Trim-Out
After the installation, the subcontractors would return for their trim-out, which is round two for them and consequently their final round.
With the subcontractors wrapped up, we begin the last phase of your project: completion!

09
— Completion
Throughout the renovation process, either at the end of each phase or, depending upon the length of the project, several times during each phase, we collect payment installments.
Once we’ve looked over your newly updated space together, scrutinizing and gawking over the details, and all is as it should be, we’ll collect the final payment and turn it over to you for your reinstated and prolonged enjoyment.
