  • Is there a kind of tile that you recommend over others?

No, not necessarily. There are tiles that are better suited for certain spaces and surfaces. However, by and large, it comes down to preference. We’ll work with just about whatever tile you, as the client, want to apply to your project; it’s your project, after all! We’ve installed large-format tiles that reach from floor to ceiling and small decorative glass mosaics—you name it. And if you’re unsure, we or one of the designers with whom we collaborate will find just the right tile for you and your project.
  • What if I don’t want any of those troubling grout lines? Is there an option for that?

Indeed, there is! The market is rather inundated with various alternatives to custom-tiled shower walls. One we’ve used a lot is Wetwall, which is a prefabricated wall panel. However, these days, tiles can be found in such massive sizes that a tiled shower wall truly must be considered back in the running. The same applies to floors; a 48" × 102" tile can be used on a floor just as it can on a wall.
  • Do you seal your tiles?

If the variety of tile requires it, of course! However, not all tiles require sealing. For example, most porcelain and ceramic tiles come sealed, while natural stone tiles, such as marble or travertine, must be sealed. In the case of a natural stone tile, we will generally seal it two to three times. In addition to tile sealant, the grout that we use has its own sealing compounds within it.
  • I’m considering renovating my kitchen; do I have to use custom cabinetry?

Listen, we love custom cabinetry; it’s the only reason we offer it, aside from perhaps quality control and customization. However, it is expensive. The cost is dependent on several factors: material, labor, and quantity. The reality is that it just takes time to construct a well-built, handmade cabinet.
  • My Instagram algorithm has been feeding me eye-popping timber-frame architecture; do you offer any of that?

So, you’re interested in timber framing, are you? I think we’ll be fast friends. Yes, we offer timber framing, and we, too, find it eye-popping.
